Thanks for the Support! Windows 8, and Google+
Just got access to my quarterly report on Smashwords and I was surprised to find that I have a following on Barnes & Noble. While I love Smashwords for getting my books onto markets that I normally wouldn't be able to (like Apple because I don't own a Macbook), my only gripe is that sale aren't updated in real time.
Anyway, I was pleased to find out that my first book has received over 200 downloads on B&N as of May 1st, bringing my total count to 1500 downloads on the first book.
I just wanted to give my thanks to all of my readers.
In other news, I hate Windows 8!
My laptop is a Lenovo U410 that I bought in November and after adjusting some settings to get it to bypass that stupid dashboard that is only useful if you have a touchscreen laptop, I was finally able to use it efficiently. The only problem is that it crashes fairly regularly (on average about once every two weeks). Every program up will say 'not responding' and the time will freeze while my mouse still works.
Usually, I just ignore it, restart my computer, and get on with my life. However, last night it froze while Word was autosaving my fifth book. I restarted my computer, open word, opened the recovery file, and found that it had deleted an entire freaking chapter.
And how do I know it's Windows 8's fault and not just me screwing up? Because I owned the Windows 7 version of the U410 (that I returned to Costco when they got the windows 8 version because it was within the return policy time and I didn't want to pay extra to upgrade to window 8. I was also able to get $100 back and a new laptop in the blue color I wanted. I love Costco!) and in the two months that I had the Windows 7 version, it didn't freeze at all.
Despite the freezing and loss of an entire chapter, I was able to recreate it (mostly) and got a total of 5300 words written yesterday. While that used to be my daily average when I was writing the first two books, my average has been less than half of that for the last three so that was pretty nice.

I mostly just forward my posts from my blogs to my account so you'll get updated when I post... I think. Once again, I don't really know how it works haha.
